About me
Becky Romero

I am a lifelong resident of Gardena, a community I have proudly called home for more than sixty years. My husband and I raised our two sons here, and today I am blessed to be a grandmother to my 16 month old grandson, Hayden, who brings tremendous joy to our family.

I attended Chapman Elementary, Peary Junior High School, and Gardena High School—where being a Mohican is still a point of pride. I later continued my education at El Camino College, taking coursework in business administration.
For the past thirteen years, I have served as the Deputy City Clerk under City Clerk Mina Semenza. In this role, I supervise staff and oversee the daily operations of the City Clerk’s Office. I take great pride in serving the city that has shaped my entire life. Our mission is to connect residents with city services, promote transparency, and serve as the professional link between our community and the City Council. I have been deeply committed to championing voter awareness and encouraging civic engagement through education and outreach.
Before joining the City, I spent more than twenty five years in the legal field, beginning as a legal secretary and advancing to office manager. That experience strengthened my understanding of legal processes, contracts, and organizational leadership—skills that continue to support my work today.
I am actively involved in our community as the Secretary of the Kiwanis Club of Gardena and as a member of the Gardena Elks Lodge #1919. Professionally, I am a member of both the California Municipal Clerks Association and the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. I hold the Certified Municipal Clerk designation, mentor new clerks, and am currently pursuing my Master Municipal Clerk designation. My years of service in the City Clerk’s Office have strengthened my dedication to this community and inspired me to continue serving the Citizens of Gardena as City Clerk.
